ROG Ally and Steamdeck – Not so expensive if you know how to buy them

Today you can for sure buy the Asus ROG Ally X with 1To SSD on the market around 800 to 900 Euros. Same for the Steamdeck from Valve with also 1To SSD between 750 to 900 Euros.

But there is a cheepest way to buy them… al lot of people today are selling their 64Go model to buy 1To new ones. And i can understand, it is really weird to have a very good console with such not enough space to store the games.

You can today very easily find Steamdeck 64Go around 200 Eruos on the second hand market, same for ROG Allly around 300 Euros.

And you can find on Amazon several 2To SSD at 150 Euros. Means, if you have a bit of time, you can easily have a Steamdeck 2To for not more than 350 Euros, and a ROG ally for not more than 500 Euros. You will just do an economy of more than 50%.

The SSD i recomment if the Crucial P310 SSD 2TB PCIe Gen4 NVMe M.2 2230 SSD, very reliable, good brand, and 100% compatible with Steamdeck and ROG Ally.

Then what you need to do is to unscrew the console, remove the actual SSD and replace by the new one and screw again the console. Just pay attention to unplug the battery before switching the SSD. The only thing i will explain is how to burn a good image on the new SSD before putting it in the console.

For Steamdeck: burn the image you can find in https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/65B4-2AA3-5F37-4227 you can just type « steamdeck recovery instructions » on Google. To do it you just need Rufus or Balena Etcher and a Dock SSD M.2 and Nvme USB that you can find on Amazon for less than 30 euros.
